Florida fifth grader arrested, charged with threatening a mass capturing, police say

A fifth grade pupil in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a textual content message threatening to carry out a mass taking pictures, authorities said.

In an announcement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office mentioned it had learned earlier that day of a "threatening text message" despatched by a student at an elementary faculty.

It mentioned its native faculty risk enforcement group was immediately notified and began investigating. The 10-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written threat to conduct a mass taking pictures," the sheriff's office mentioned.

In video shared by authorities, the boy can be seen being led into a police car.

“This pupil’s behavior is sickening, especially after the latest tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in an announcement, noting that the risk got here simply days after the deadly school capturing at Robb Elementary School left 19 students and two lecturers useless.

“Proper now shouldn't be the time to act like a little delinquent. It’s not funny,” he mentioned. “This baby made a faux threat, and now he’s experiencing real consequences.”
