Israel will not launch a criminal investigation into the killing of the US-Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh, which Palestinian officers and witnesses have blamed on Israeli soldiers.

In a press release released on Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces claimed that as a result of Abu Aqleh was killed in an “active fight state of affairs”, a right away felony investigation would not be launched, though an “operational inquiry” would continue.

The Israel Defence Forces released an announcement on Thursday claiming that “dozens of Palestinian gunmen fired recklessly and indiscriminately whereas IDF troopers were conducting counter-terrorism actions in the Jenin camp” on the day that Abu Aqleh died.
