Mike Tyson won’t face fees in altercation with JetBlue passenger, district lawyer says

A California district legal professional declined to file costs Tuesday in opposition to former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a bodily altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Legal professional Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police reports and movies of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no charges be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Workplace concluded its overview of the case involving Mike Tyson on the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he committed a misdemeanor battery against one other passenger on an airplane while waiting on the terminal previous to departure," Wagstaffe mentioned in an announcement.

"Our resolution is that we'll not file any fees against Mr. Tyson based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These include the conduct of the victim main up to the incident, the interplay between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of both the sufferer and Mr. Tyson that no fees be filed on this case," Wagstaffe stated.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, showing to try to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson mentioned the person was harassing Tyson. The video did not present what occurred before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the choice to not file costs by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and law enforcement businesses "for his or her cautious, diligent, and professional work."
