CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The parents of a 6-year-old marathoner are speaking out after they say youngster protecting providers paid their household an unannounced visit and questioned their children at dwelling.

Ben and Kami Crawford shared a photograph on Instagram Sunday purportedly of one in all their kids being interviewed by a CPS staffer. In the accompanying caption, they wrote partly, "Yesterday Little one Protective Providers (CPS) arrived at our home unannounced and interviewed our youngsters, parents & grandmother. This is a scary process because normally children are interrogated away from dad and mom, in opposition to their will, and their answers determine the company's authorized right to remove the kids."


The Crawfords made headlines final week after they let their youngsters, including their son Rainier, 6, run the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati on May 1 and shared it on-line. Their May 3 Instagram publish particularly sparked outcry from social media users, with some critics going as far as to accuse the Crawfords of kid abuse.

Campbell County, Kentucky, District Legal professional Steve Franzen confirmed to "Good Morning America" that little one services had visited the Crawfords, but stated no determination had been made yet within the investigation.

Ben and Kami Crawford addressed critics' accusations in a prolonged Instagram video Saturday.

"The actual stuff that we acquired accused of was dragging Rainier, like bodily dragging him on the marathon course after mile 13 and across the finish line," Ben Crawford said.

"If you happen to guys have seen our finish line picture, we all held hands for just like the final probably, like, .2, .3 miles," he added. "We talked about it forward of time, like that's what we're going to do."

I do not know who wants to hear this but a six year previous can not fathom what a marathon will do to them physically. A six 12 months outdated doesn't perceive what embracing misery is. A six yr who is "struggling bodily" doesn't understand they've the correct to stop and should.

The Crawfords maintain their 6-year-old needed to run all along and stand by their resolution to let the younger boy run 26.2 miles.

"I do not know if I needs to be angry. I like to believe that persons are doing the best that they will. They are not trying to wreck our life or, , they most likely are legit afraid for our kids. But also, it is like, the place's the road?" Ben Crawford asked.

"I feel like we're doing what we really feel captivated with," Kami Crawford said. "It could be sort of tragic to stop all that."

Experts say a marathon is a severe bodily feat for anyone and it could take a toll on a baby.

"If a younger baby have been to run a marathon, I am frightened about electrolyte abnormalities, nausea, vomiting, heatstroke, all these indicators and symptoms that may not be that clear in a younger youngster," Dr. Alok Patel beforehand informed "GMA."

Children could have a tougher time recognizing warning indicators of dehydration, exhaustion or other crimson flags. Parents and caregivers should consult with a toddler's pediatrician before a child is permitted to interact in any strenuous train.
