A California district lawyer declined to file prices Tuesday against former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with one other passenger on a JetBlue flight.
San Mateo County District Lawyer Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police stories and videos of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no fees be filed.
"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Legal professional’s Workplace concluded its evaluate of the case involving Mike Tyson on the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery against another passenger on an airplane while ready at the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe said in a statement.
"Our resolution is that we are going to not file any expenses against Mr. Tyson primarily based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These include the conduct of the victim main as much as the incident, the interplay between Mr. Tyson and the victim, in addition to the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson that no expenses be filed on this case," Wagstaffe stated.
The case is now closed.
Cellphone video showed Tyson, 55, showing to attempt to punch someone who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson mentioned the individual was harassing Tyson. The video did not present what occurred earlier than the altercation.
David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the choice to not file fees by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and law enforcement businesses "for their cautious, diligent, and professional work."
