LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC/Grey Information) - An incident that involved gamers from a college’s lacrosse staff and deputies in Georgia remains underneath investigation.

WTOC experiences Delaware State University President Tony Allen launched an announcement on Monday responding to the incident that reportedly happened on April 20 in Liberty County.

Allen wrote Georgia legislation enforcement stopped a bus for a minor traffic violation with the Delaware State Lacrosse staff on board. Deputies searched the belongings of the student-athletes, including suitcases with drug-sniffing canine.

“100% you may’t be in that left lane at all,” stated a Liberty County Sheriff’s Deputy.

The staff was returning residence from a recreation in Florida and traveling by a contracted bus, based on Allen.

Liberty County Sheriff William Bowman held a news conference about the incident but took no questions. He claimed that no personal items on the bus were searched.

Physique camera video obtained by WTOC, however, clearly showed the deputies going through the scholars’ baggage and even treatment.

The college president wrote in his assertion that videos taken by gamers showed regulation enforcement attempting to intimidate them into confessing to possession of medication and/or drug paraphernalia.

“They didn’t really ask us,” mentioned Sydney Anderson, a Delaware State Lacrosse Participant. “They informed us of what they’re gonna do and no one questioned them...we just let them rattle by our stuff.”

A player on the bus asked: “How did we go from being in the wrong lane to going via our luggage?”

A deputy responded: “Effectively, he stopped y’all, he didn’t cease y’all for a visitors violation...he stopped the driving force for a site visitors violation.”

Nothing unlawful was found in the search, and Allen informed the general public that he has contacted Delaware’s governor, the Black Caucus and different state officers.

Allen wrote that everybody was incensed over the incident.

Allen also added the next:

“We don't intend to let this or every other incident like it go idly by. We are ready to go wherever the evidence leads us. We now have video. We have allies. Perhaps extra significantly, we've the courage of our convictions.”

Allen concluded his statement by writing, “We'll never be bullied into believing something other than what we're: People, learners, lecturers, builders—helpful and honorable individuals ready to soar.”
