In the quest to understand how evolution mainly built the woolly mammoth, we could have discovered the blueprints for constructing them ...

I think we should start cloning modern animals that have gone extinct/are critically endangered. Like the condor. Or the thylacine.
I just love that he quotes Dr Ian Malcolm 😁🙌
We should be focusing on modern animals that are dying out. Not animals that dont belong here
Yeah, let's recreate some ice age animal amid the global heating climate catastrophe… What could probably go wrong 🤣 Whooly much of thanks
Another ethical question…. technically; could a human sperm fertilize a gorilla or chimp egg?
Again; not that we should; but just wondering because of the DNA similarities.
what are you DOING, steppe mammoth 😳
Do it! Do it! Do it! Why not?!
I mean if climate change is going get as bad as we think it will, we should probably hold off on bringing back extinct species.
I sincerely hope this works, and that scientists can them work tirelessly to resurrect my extinct self esteem.
Let's not. I think there's something quite amazing about the fact that we have understood so much about the genetics of an extinct animal. But when the morality around such a thing is questionable and not settled, such as in the case of genetic modification of large, sentient mammal, I'd suggest we err on the side of inaction. I'm not even suggesting that there is a risk of morrtal peril for us; only that we as a society need to first dive deep and ascertain the morality around such a thing.
Would it be cool to see ancient creatures in the flesh? Yes. Is it ethical to spend so much time and money to bring back an extinct species that isn’t adapted to a modern climate and force endangered animals to give birth them? Nah
What are you doing steppe mammoth 😏
If you want pretty mice with wavy hair, look up angor mice, or satin angora mice. Cuteness. Overload.
Oh… the puns…
We still can't de-extinct Auroch and their DNA still exists in the domestic Cattle.
dr. frank, dr. frank.. how´s it that our little mammoth has sharp fangs…🤔🤔😱
What difference does it make at this point
Thank you for apologizing for the pun.
Since when is the "p" in "Pteranodon" silent???
Oh no steppe mammoth. I've lost my fur
For crying out loud, make a mammoth already. I'm getting impatient, getting old too.
They could be harvested by the INUKTITUK , start building them.
It's just a hairy elephant. Just give an elephant some rogaine.
Yes we should. Not to release them, that could threaten modern animals. We should make mammoths for stake and wool. Imagine having a big old mammoth ranch in North Carolina, that´d be cool.
That was the perfect music to go out on lol
Humans at the very least were partially responsible for the extinction of these great creatures. We have a moral obligation to try and revive them. Plus the technology developed to revive them can be applied to other species that have more recently gone extinct or have low genetic diversity in the population.
Lol come for the paleontology stay for the puns
This host is great and I love his humor!
2:20 "Illustraton" is that an American spelling that I'm not familiar with?
