Jacob Albarado was in his barber's chair when each men bought textual content messages concerning the capturing unfolding at Robb Elementary Faculty in Uvalde, Texas, last week. "There's an lively shooter. Assist. Love you," Albarado's wife Trisha stated in three messages at 11:41 a.m.

She's a fourth grade instructor on the college, and their daughter is a scholar there.

"I requested my barber if he had a gun," Albarado, a U.S. Customs and Border Safety agent, advised CBS Information on Wednesday. He had attended an awards ceremony at the school earlier that morning and was off obligation, with his weapon at residence.

"We need to get the children out of here," Albarado said he told the officers. "… The shooter's over there. We need to get the youngsters out. This is our time."

The officers began opening classroom doorways, and Albarado stated he guided people to security.

"First classroom, second classroom, third classroom, saw my daughter," Albarado mentioned. "Relief. Large reduction."

He hugged and kissed her, and soon she was heading to the college parking zone.

While Border Patrol brokers were on the staff that breached the classroom where the gunman was holed up, Albarado wasn't in that group.

"I did not have my gear, and so it would not have been a good move for me to get into the constructing," he said. "I didn't have my vest. A shotgun's not a ok defense."

During a press conference last week, the pinnacle of the Texas Department of Public Safety said the college district's police chief didn't initially ship officers into the classroom where the gunman was located as a result of he thought it was not an active-shooter scenario.
