Most of this is true, definitely be nice to her friends and listen to her etc. It's common sense really. However, depending on your age (and the girl) being very nice to her won't get you anywhere.
I was fairly popular with girls growing up. I don't like being mean to anyone or ignoring anyone so I never did that. But guys who didn't really acknowledge the girl they liked, were definitely more successful.
However, once I got to my mid twenties, this changed. Girls actively start to seek out nicer guys. I was much more popular with the ladies.
Probably gonna get a lot of shit for saying this, but it's the truth people and not just for me. Younger people want and care about what others think about them much more. So if a guy who has been ignoring you, suddenly shows some interest, they pay attention.
